What to look for when buying a glass bong or pipe?
1. The most important question you have to ask yourself before buying a bong is what will this bong be used for SPECIFICALLY?
For example, will this bong be used by a lot of people, or just as your private piece? Do you need a portable bong to bring on your travels? How long do you plan on using it before replacing it? Do you care about all the different accessories, or do you just need something good enough to get the job done? What are your cleaning habits? Do you care about the look of the bong or its manufacturer?
2. The next question you need to ask yourself is how experienced of a smoker are you?
If you just started out, your lung capacity and ability to hold smoke are probably not all that great. If you get too ambitious and buy a really large bong, but can’t clear the smoke from the chamber in one hit, you can stale the taste of the second hit. If you buy a technical bong or one with too many accessories, it may be difficult to use for a newbie. You probably don’t need various glass bong slides if this is your first bong. So if you’re unsure of your expertise, a simple bong is probably the best option.
3. Is one of size and comfort.
The size of your mouth should match the size of the mouthpiece. The weight of the bong should also be taken into consideration. I know that you will hardly find a bong that is too heavy to hold, but there are some bongs out there that are pretty hefty. Imagine you buy a really thick glass bong 40 cm in height. A monster like that will run you at about 300 dollars. If you do buy a bong like that you usually smoke it from the table, you don’t try to carry it around with you as you’re taking a hit. But all it takes is that one friend who thinks it’s a good idea to walk around with it. So eventually it drops. Maybe it doesn’t break, but the water has now spilled, a piece fell out and broke, and now you have a mess on your hands. Knowing what weight you’re comfortable with most definitely matters.
